Operation of the Redline Performance Box
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES AT FULL FUELING
Engine (MIL) codes will be set with the operation of this product.
When the Redline is shut off, the light on the dash will go out after a few key starts.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST PARAMETERS UNDER LOAD.
It is recommended that the menu choices be set before making a run.
The RED button turns fuel enhancement on and off by holding briefly. You will see the display indicate "Fuel On" or "Fuel Off". The RED button when pushed for less time will allow you to see what parameter or choice you have chosen.
Pressing either black button moves you forward or backward through the menu.
If you want to change or display any of the many menu choices/parameters, press either of the black buttons to scroll up or down to your menu choice and then press the red button momentarily. Pressing either black button again and again will scroll through your choices or change the parameter. Press the red button after making your choice and the displayed choice will become effective. The red button is the "Return" or "OK" button.
MENU OPTIONS:
"Select Fueling" The menu choice for "Fueling" can be adjusted from 0 to 100%. This represents the percentage of FULL FUELING available from the VP44 pump under full throttle operation with the Redline Performance Box. This fueling amount is completely independent of any commanded by any factory or aftermarket ECM. We completely ignore all truck fueling controls and ECM commands, measurements etc. while we are controlling fuel delivery with the Redline.
“Select RPM Limiter" The menu choice for "RPM Limiter" sets the maximum RPM from 3400 to 4000. At whatever maximum RPM is selected the Redline will begin to defuel quickly but smoothly to limit RPM. Regardless of where the maximum RPM is set you can enjoy full fueling, just by setting the percent of full fueling to 100%.
"Select Top Line Display" You have the choice of displaying a bar graph display of Exhaust Temperature of RPM in the top right corner of the display.
”Select Maximum Values" You have the choice of displaying maximum values of RPM, Boost and Pyrometer readings since last reset, or resetting them to present values.
"Select EGT Resolution" The choices are to read EGTs in 1 or 5 degree increments.
"Select Boost Resolution" The choices are to read boost in 1 or 1/10 pound increments.
Self Diagnostics
The Redline performs many self tests on start up. You may see some or all of the parameters it is checking on the display. If the box detects a problem it will display that problem in plain English.
"Power on Test" indicates the box is doing the self test.
"Checksum Failed" indicates that part or all of the software has failed. If this is seen, the box should be sent back immediately for reprogramming.
"MAP volts too low" or "MAP volts too high" indicates a problem with the Boost reading getting to the box. Call Technical Support for help.
"APPS volts too low" or "APPS volts too high" indicates installation error (blue wire from Redline on wrong wire on APPS) or poor connection on the correct wire.
"Pump Volts OK?" This indicates if 12 volts is seen on the big red wire at the pump. If this is displayed on firs start up it probably means you are on the wrong wire or have not pierced the solenoid wire to make a good connection.
"Pump Trigger OK?" This indicates no triggering signal is seen by the Redline when the engine is running. Check connection of the big red wire on the pump. This is different from "Pump Volts OK" as it is checking for actual fueling signals coming from the ECM.
When engine is first started "TIMEOUT" will be displayed. This is normal and can be cleared by momentarily pushing any button. If this is displayed any other time it indicates the box missed a trigger signal. It does not stop enhancing fuel while this reminder is displayed. It is advisable to check your connection of the big red wire to the solenoid wire or the black wire at the pump connector if this message is displayed after the truck is running.
Under light to moderate throttle conditions, it is normal to feel some roughness as throttle is increased and the Redline Box takes over the fueling commands from the ECM. Under quick or full throttle acceleration conditions, this happens so quickly it is not noticed.
