IMPROVING THE CONNECTION TO THE VP44 PUMP SOLENOID WIRE
Blue Chip Diesel Performance has come up with a much better way of attaching the wire from a FUELING STYLE performance box to the injection pump fuel solenoid wire. This product, so far to date, has kept the warranty in effect on the Bosch VP44 injection pump.
We have researched and thoroughly tested a machined plastic cover to exactly duplicate the original metal cover on the VP44 injection pump. It is made from a plastic designed to tolerate up to 600 degrees farenheit. As the cover is not conductive, this allows us to drill and tap a hole in exactly the right place to screw down an allen screw to make the fuel solenoid wire connection under the cover. The allen screw is ground to a sharp point and it pierces the plastic and the wire imbedded in the plastic as it is screwed in. The wire connection from the performance box is made to the allen screw with a ring terminal.
The directions are very clear as to how many turns to take when installing the allen screw to make a secure and dependable connection. It is virtually impossible to hurt the injection pump with this installation as you can screw the screw in all the way and not hit any other part of the pump. The only slight inconvenience is that there are two different kinds of screws holding on the cover. Trucks older than 2001 use a six point “Torx 25” screw, while the 2001 and 2002 trucks use a five point with a nipple in the center, called a “Torx Plus 25 Tamperproof”. Replacement rebuilt pumps manufactured after 2001 have the “Torx Plus 25 Tamperproof” screw.
The cover costs $49.95 and the Torx Plus 25 Tamperproof Bit costs $8.45
