OEM Style Replacement Lift Pump This pump is an exact replacement unit that goes exactly where the original pump was installed at the factory. This pump has been made by Carter for Cummins and is in its third generation. That means it has been improved twice over the original unit that came on your truck. It is the same unit that you would get if you went to a Cummins dealer today and asked for the latest updated upgraded part number. It is NOT the same thing as the “IN TANK” unit that the Dodge dealers are selling that doesn’t work nearly as well as the replacement we offer here. This third generation lift pump is different in design as it has a bypass circuit in it so if and when it fails it cannot damage the diaphragm in the front of the VP44 Injection Pump by creating too much restriction. The bypass circuit allows the vane pump in the front of the injection pump to draw fuel through the failed lift pump easier, and therefore prevent damage to the diaphragm. We recommend this unit as it is adequate and cheap. It comes with a six month warranty, compared to a four year warranty (if you send in the registration for it) with the Fass exact replacement.  |
